This is the first thing we ask on the phone, and it decides almost everything.

Measure to the finished tile face, not the wall behind it.

Run your tape corner to corner, both ways. If the two diagonals match, the opening is square. If they don't, the walls are out, and that decides whether frameless is an option. Takes thirty seconds and almost nobody does it.
